Job Description

Job Summary:

 

An AC (Air Conditioning) technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning systems . He is  responsible for ensuring that air conditioning units work efficiently and safely, and may also perform preventative maintenance tasks to keep units in good condition. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Installing and setting up air conditioning systems, including ductwork, electrical connections, and refrigerant lines
  • Inspecting and testing air conditioning units to diagnose malfunctions
  • Repairing or replacing faulty parts, such as compressors, motors, and thermostats
  • Recharging air conditioning units with refrigerant as needed
  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters and coils, checking electrical connections, and lubricating moving parts
  • Responding to service calls and customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Keeping accurate records of work performed and parts used
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations

Desired Skill & Expertise

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a technical program in HVAC or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and wiring diagrams
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed
