Job Description

The Commis I is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food items in accordance with established standards and recipes. The role involves assisting senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistency in quality, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards at all times.

 

  • Prepare ingredients and carry out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.

  • Follow standard recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the kitchen.

  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and served in a timely manner.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas.

  • Monitor and minimize wastage, ensuring proper use of ingredients.

  • Comply with all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.

  • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries properly.

  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during peak hours.

  • Support the training and development of junior staff when required.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or high-volume restaurant.

  • Certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP knowledge preferred).

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
