Job Description

Job Summary:

The Wood Polisher is responsible for the finishing, refinishing, and restoration of all wooden surfaces, furniture, and fixtures throughout the property. This role ensures all wooden elements maintain their aesthetic appeal, quality, and durability in line with brand standards. The position requires expertise in various polishing techniques and materials, with a focus on delivering high-quality craftsmanship in both guest and public areas.

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform polishing, staining, lacquering, varnishing, and refinishing on wood furniture, panels, doors, and décor.

    • Prepare wood surfaces by sanding, filling, and cleaning to ensure smooth finishes.

    • Match colors and finishes to existing woodwork for seamless repairs or restorations.

    • Conduct touch-up work on scratched, worn, or faded wood surfaces in guest rooms, lobbies, and public spaces.

    • Apply protective coatings and finishes appropriate to wood type and usage conditions.

    • Collaborate with carpenters and other trades for repair or restoration projects.

    • Maintain and clean tools, brushes, sprayers, and polishing equipment.

    • Select and use appropriate materials, chemicals, and finishes in a safe and eco-friendly manner.

    • Follow safety and quality standards while working, especially in guest-accessible areas.

    • Maintain records of work completed and materials used.

    • Assist with furniture installation, movement, or storage as required by the Engineering department.

Desired Skill & Expertise

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Vocational training or certification in wood finishing or furniture polishing is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in wood polishing or furniture finishing.

  • Experience in hotels, resorts, or luxury property maintenance is an asset.

Skills:

  • Proficient in a variety of wood polishing techniques (manual and spray methods).

  • Strong attention to detail and aesthetic sense.

  • Ability to work with different types of wood, stains, and finishes.

  • Knowledge of safe handling and storage of chemicals and materials.
