Job Description

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all mechanical systems within the property, including HVAC, plumbing, pumps, water systems, and other mechanical equipment. The role involves supervising a team of technicians, ensuring high standards of service delivery, and supporting the Engineering Manager in executing preventive and corrective maintenance plans. This position plays a key role in maintaining guest comfort, system reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of mechanical technicians, ensuring timely and quality service.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, pumps, water supply and drainage systems, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.

  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical systems.

  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or mechanical failures to minimize downtime.

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Maintain logs, records, and reports for maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs.

  • Support energy-saving initiatives and ensure mechanical systems operate efficiently.

  • Liaise with other engineering teams and departments to resolve technical issues affecting operations.

  • Assist with planning and execution of mechanical aspects of renovation or upgrade projects.

  • Train and mentor junior technicians to improve skills, safety awareness, and system knowledge.

  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment rooms and mechanical infrastructure to identify potential issues.

  • Ensure adequate inventory of spare parts and tools for mechanical systems.

Desired Skill & Expertise

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Trade certification or license in mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of mechanical maintenance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Experience in hotels, resorts, or large commercial buildings is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, pumps, plumbing systems, boilers, and BMS integration.

  • Proficient in using tools and equipment related to mechanical maintenance.

  • Familiarity with CMMS software and maintenance documentation procedures.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.
