Job Description

The Electrical/Gas Welder is responsible for performing welding and metal fabrication tasks related to the repair, maintenance, and construction of metal structures and components within the property. This includes working on piping systems, support frames, kitchen and laundry equipment, and general metal fixtures. The role requires a strong understanding of both electrical arc and gas welding techniques, and the ability to work safely, efficiently, and with precision in a hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform arc and gas welding to repair or fabricate metal structures, frames, supports, and fixtures.

  • Cut, shape, and join metal components using gas flame, electric arc, or other welding techniques.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Carry out maintenance and repair of metal-based equipment such as kitchen units, steel doors, piping, and structural supports.

  • Inspect and test welded surfaces and structures to ensure durability and safety compliance.

  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and safety gear in good condition.

  • Collaborate with other engineering and maintenance staff on multi-trade repair jobs.

  • Adhere to health, safety, and fire regulations during all welding operations.

  • Maintain accurate work records, materials used, and time logs for welding tasks.

  • Assist in emergency repair work and participate in on-call duty rotations if required.

  • Support renovation and refurbishment projects as directed by the Engineering Manager.

Desired Skill & Expertise

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or technical certification in welding or metal fabrication.

  • Certified welder (SMAW/GMAW/GTAW) or equivalent trade license as per local regulations.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of welding experience in maintenance, construction, or industrial settings.

  • Previous experience in hotels, resorts, or facility maintenance is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in arc welding (SMAW), gas welding (oxy-acetylene), MIG/TIG welding.

  • Skilled in using welding machines, grinders, cutting torches, and other metalworking tools.

  • Ability to identify material types and appropriate welding methods.

  • Familiar with metal finishing techniques and quality control inspections.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and safety.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
