Job Description

The Carpenter is responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry tasks including construction, repair, installation, and maintenance of woodwork and furniture throughout the property. Working in a hospitality environment, the Carpenter ensures that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are maintained in excellent condition, aligning with brand standards and safety regulations. The role demands attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to respond promptly to service requests and preventive maintenance needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform repair and maintenance of wooden furniture, doors, windows, fixtures, and decorative elements.

  • Install or assemble furniture, fittings, and fixtures in guest rooms, lobbies, restaurants, and other areas.

  • Construct partitions, cabinets, shelving, and other wooden structures as needed.

  • Carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all woodwork across the property.

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn-out carpentry elements promptly to ensure guest comfort.

  • Coordinate with other engineering trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) for integrated maintenance work.

  • Maintain an inventory of carpentry tools, supplies, and materials; request stock as needed.

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Respond to guest room and departmental work orders in a timely and professional manner.

  • Support refurbishment, renovation, and setup projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.

  • Follow all company policies regarding health, safety, and property maintenance procedures.

Desired Skill & Expertise

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Technical or vocational certification in carpentry or related trade.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a carpenter, preferably in the hospitality, construction, or facility maintenance industry.

  • Experience working in hotels or luxury properties is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, carpentry machines, and measuring instruments.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Knowledge of wood types, finishing techniques, and basic joinery methods.

Soft Skills:

  • Attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
