The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of all building systems and infrastructure within the property or portfolio, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and guest satisfaction. This role involves managing a team of technicians and contractors, implementing preventive maintenance plans, and responding to emergencies in a timely manner. Working closely with the operations team, the Engineering Manager ensures that all engineering services support smooth hotel or property operations while maintaining brand standards, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency. The role also plays a key part in supporting sustainability initiatives and capital improvement projects.
Supervise the daily operation and maintenance of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), HVAC, and fire safety systems.
Implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
Lead and train the engineering team to ensure high standards of technical performance and safety.
Coordinate and respond to emergency repairs and urgent service requests efficiently.
Manage inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies; ensure timely procurement.
Monitor utility usage and implement energy-saving initiatives to improve efficiency.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
Maintain proper documentation, certifications, and maintenance records for all systems.
Support CapEx and renovation projects in collaboration with contractors and consultants.
Prepare and manage engineering budgets; control costs while ensuring service quality.
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety risks.
Liaise with other departments to ensure seamless operations and minimal guest impact.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., PMP, NEBOSH, LEED, or equivalent) is a plus.
Valid engineering license or trade certification preferred, depending on local regulations.
Experience:
Minimum of 6–8 years of engineering or facilities management experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Experience in hospitality, high-rise residential, or mixed-use property operations strongly preferred.
Proven track record in managing preventive maintenance programs and building systems.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, and building automation systems (BMS).
Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with energy management and sustainability practices.
